However, with everyone else gone - I guess I will just have to learn to settle for Brad's posts.
Not many others are left. |
I'm still here NB. |

I left the COG. No doubt. Not the people, the corporation. If the COG or anyone in it has abandoned me (which I have never claimed), it happened after I left. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

Your continuing to refer to the COG as a "corporation" clearly displays your contempt. |

I really was concerned that a lot of mud would be thrown, but I haven't seen it. I really have not seen the Wallace vs COG, even though I would have preferred the physical separation had not happened. But it has and There have been one or two 'possible snarky' remarks but far and away it has been Bless him (Without the "don't let the door hit you in the rear as you leave")!
I was sorta proud of the COG family.
(even though me 'n him are not tight anymore and he ain't gonna invite me to dinner!) _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

What is it then, if not a corporation? Is is a club? Is it a division of Christ?
Christ isn't divided.
"Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?" 1 Cor 1:12,13
What is the difference between those who are of Luther? Lutherans?
Those who are of Welsey? Wesleyans?
Those who are of Campbell? Christian Church?
Those who are of Spurling?
The COG is a corporation. It has to be fed and watered. It can sue and be sued. It is an entity. Christ doesn't save corporations.
I may have some contempt for all the wasted energy and resources that are spent on, devoted to the corporation. I had had no idea the drain it was on me personally until I was considering leaving. Then I felt the inertia it created. I honestly felt stuck.
The church is bigger than a denomination, a division of the body of Christ. When we announce that someone is "leaving" the COG, it identifies the problem, the inertia, the wrong value, the wrong perception we attribute to the corporation. If it's more than a corporation, something that deserves loyalty, where we feel "leaving" is a betrayal of sorts, we need to reconsider it.
"Why, if you're not a member of the COG, you should leave here!"
This thinking is twisted, wicked, wrong.
The only "members" in the new covenant church are the members of His body. Anything else is a club. If clubs are exclusive and divisive, they are wrong.

Isn't that what the Body of Christ is?
How is the COG different from the Body of Christ, in your view...where someone can "leave" it or "join" it? _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

There is only ONE Church.
The membership roll is kept in Heaven.
The "Lamb's Book of Life".
The A/G is a fellowship.
Cleveland is a corporation.
Before you jump.
"SPWC Incorporated" speaks for itself. _________________ Charles A. Hutchins

Sorry Brad: Some folks say they are in the body of Christ, when they really aren't. Their stated beliefs indicate they aren't.
Denominations are just one way to help folks distinguish certain beliefs. (There are others).
Catholic is one denomination.
Mormon is another.
1st Church of Satan is another.
The word Jesus comes up in all of their meetings. But, they don't mean it the same way.
We all understand there is only one body - but everyone that says they are in, aren't. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

Explain it however you want. But you know and every person on Acts who is COG, knows what you mean when you refer to it as a " Corporation". |

Krista, I don't know how to explain the mind of anyone who quotes 1 Cor 1:12-13, and from there proceeds to ignore the fact that congregations are following a man anywhere he decides to go, rather than holding fast to their own declarations of what they believe, and how they will conduct themselves in relationship with like minded believers.

That movie has a lot of bad language in it. That portion does not.
I work for no man.
I follow no man.
I follow a path. As the Churchmen sang, it is a "Long and Winding Road," but I again would choose the same.
