This cultural phenomenon of services being cancelled at least once a yr in Jan or Feb in the Carolinas over the last number of years, the answer is a little bit.
The tithers will still tithe and the majority of the givers will give about the same. It hurts the cash flow for the month however as it sometimes takes a month or so to even out.

I'm thinking a helicopter ride ought to give you a pretty good rush.
I hope you report everything fair and square on your church financial statement. I have to tell you what you did could be a mite shady.

I remember once in GAstonia, Paul Collins was pastoring, my cousin was the clerk. Cuz called the established regular tithers, and with their blessings he drove around and collected enough tithes to pay the pastor that weekend and pay the bills.
laymen like that are a blessing to a pastor.

Sounds like a pretty good trade off, and I admire a preacher's wife who can find her way to stash a little for special occasions.
