After seeing a bunch of Strange Fire videos that popped up on YouTube in 2013 and after watching a few videos from the conference, I started a forum on Facebook called Cessationism v. Continuationism. Usually, cessationists don't stick around or keep posting long after they encounter some Biblical responses to their position.
There was one guy who stuck around and had a tendency to want to mock and attack others, but there are rules against, it, so I guess he was restrained. He left the forum, but we got into a private message conversation, and he kept making attacks at me and my faith. He didn't have any solid arguments to back them up. But he said I worshipped a different God who did this or that. And he accused me of idolatry for believing in spiritual gifts, again with no evidence to back up his claims. I asked him if he thought I was saved. He allowed for the possibility. I told him if I was saved, he'd just blasphemed God. I think the forum rules had just kept him from lambasting everyone who didn't see things his way.
Your example was one from a more liberal type person. I recall reading a sermon on 'The Mush God.' I thought the one I read was from Leonard Ravenhill. Maybe I was mistaken.
I found this little news column about 'The Mush God' that your post reminds me of. It's short, but an insightful little article.
