Res , your to smart to give up. Keep on trying and you will succeed. In the meantime find some joy in your life. Its there , you just have to find it. This alone will diminish depression very quick.

I really wouldnt depend to much on others for help in this area. As your finding out some things you just have to do by yourself. Prayin for you Bro....

My wise old father told me the same thing. He says this season in my life has all the markings of a "lonesome" valley.

Real money is in sales.

Perhaps you could sell caskets at a large city funeral home.
I say that only because I know of a COG minister that had the same issues - then found he is good at a tough job - selling caskets and funerals to grieving families - not everyone can do it.

But- he regularly takes home 200K per year. You may not be as successful - but how much do you need to get out of the cracker home where no one wants you?

Think of other jobs that may use your skills dealing with folks facing tough times.

If he the funeral home owner or just a salesman?

I agree sales is definitely the way to go!

Try selling cars at a local lot. Many are flexible and commission only sales are nice!

Get creative. Think of all of the skills you have on your resume. Of all of the skills you have, what do you really REALLY enjoy doing the most? Life is too short to be miserable! Find a way to do what you enjoy doing and do it with all of your heart and might! You will succeed!! You may have to volunteer to begin with or work crazy hours but at least you will be doing what you enjoy!

May God bless you and your family!

Praying for you!!

Thanks!

I realize I've said this before, but I do want to say again that the job market in my neck of the 'woods' is excellent. I say 'woods' but it's basically desert out here in the Permian Basin. Almost everybody is hiring out here. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Just salesman...again, in a large city - not a mom and pop funeral parlor.

Praying for you! God has a plan and a job for you. Just keep pressing on. I went through a divorce over three years ago.My business, that I had worked for over 30 years had started to dry up. I had cut back years ago, planning on going full time into the ministry and that did not happen. Then Me divorce came and knowing I would have to find another job was going to be tuft, being in my mid 50s. I came close to losing my house, but I knew God would supply me with a job with benefits. Over three year He did. I went into a field, working on Commercial heating and A/c systems that I had NO training in. I was scared to death but just kept going and now almost a 1 1/2 later I am doing great. It may be what you want, but God will supply you what He wants! Just keep the faith and keep walking in faith and not by sight! Praying for you.

If you can find some field where you could take a short training course, that's another alternative. You can get student loans for a school for heating and air conditioning or automobile mechanic.

There are also short courses to insurance or real estate. You could take a short course to enter the bottom rung as a real estate appraiser, but you should line up a licensed appraiser first for that one. There are also home inspectors.

It depends on what your work experience and skills are.

Thanks for the prayers. Our living situation is complicating things tremendously. Our move to Texas is so close that I have been focusing much of my job search there. But so far nothing, not even an email of acknowledgement. I'm also up to my eye balls in college work.
