Russia and Religion vs. America and Religion

More and more, it seems to me that Russia makes better decisions about moral and religious matters than does America. Of course, this wasn't always the case.

The Russian Orthodox Church apparently plays a significant role in guiding policy in matters of moral or religious significance.

Russia resists gay acceptance as an alternate lifestyle. That is, they don't arrest someone just for being gay, but if someone flaunts it or acts out in a public manner.... I feel I have to respect the fact that someone has a particular orientation. I don't think they chose it. But at the same time, that should not mean that we think it is perfectly fine to have gay marriage, gay parades, etc.

It may be that there will come a day when the safest haven for Christians will be Russia. I also think there are some South American countries.

Or Uganda, the most Christian nation on earth.

I definitely do not like our 'tail wagging the dog' thing that our politics and the Politically correct ideas popular with some today.

Problem is the old truth, "Once the cat is out of the bag.... etc" is still relevant. One of our faults here is the extremes in attitudes, the minorities that have the attitude of LOVE 'EM OR KILL 'EM.

I am reminded of President Obama bringing up the Gay situation in Kenya, and the leader there said, "I am sorry Mr. President, but Kenya does not have a Gay Problem."

Looking around, I agree with you, we are wrong to give the 'Gay Community' the front page. We are supposed to still be a country where the majority rules but does not OPPRESS the minority. It is a fine line, but I will still pick the USA over Russia, although there are points where Russia leads. Cool

Missionaries have had their visas revoked as they expired. It is not the people who are leery of Americans it's the govt. And while they are not communists of the former USSR stripe. I said neo communism. Putin wants to be tsar using a authoritarian model with severe socialism to manipulate the people. In Moscow severe corrupt crony capitalism exists under the auspices of the local mafia run by the FSB (secret service all former KGB) run by Putin and his cronies. He also controls the oligarchs and the oil industry. Christianity is a threat to all of that. We knew back in the 90',s we had a window of opportunity open to us for a season. We made great strides but the window is closing just as it is in China.
