Post AB's scratching each other's back is what the Tithe of Tithe gets you aprilmay2.0
So... heres a scenario that may or may not be real.

There is an AB of a large state in the south, maybe the largest, who has a great church in his state where the pastor is retiring. This church is probably a top 20 in the state and has around 400 in attendance.

The AB decides to strong arm the church and council by holding NO vote for a new pastor, take NO suggestions for a new pastor, take NO resumes for a new pastor but instead decides to handle this as an appointment. Now, this is well within the rights and duties of an AB but is not a usual practice.

So why would an AB decide to employ an irregular practice and appoint the pastor? Because the pastor he wants to appoint is ANOTHER AB from a mid-sized possibly midwestern state.

This is what your TOT will get you. This is what its like to be COG. Does this type of backscratching need to be drained? You tell me.

I don't have a problem with that. The AB that's coming to pastor is probably a great formerly very successful pastor who has over the past several years has been around enough and learned enough to make him even better when he returns to the field. The only thing that matters anyways is "God's Will" which is the State Overseer's job to determine. He can use a preference ballot to help him determine that - or he might hear from the Lord in prayer. If he feels it is God's will for the former state overseer to come to the church then I don't have a problem with it.

Nothing to ponder beyond that right there. Nothing to drain, Aprilmay.

I am quite sure that you have been given some bad information on how this situation is being handled. In a week or so, you are going to "have pie on your face." Where does this kind of junk come from?

This kind of stuff cracks me up! Some people get just enough information to make them think they know what they are talking about. The original poster has bits of truth and gallon loads of misinformation, which leads to false facts.

This thread reminds me of the Alabama post. Some of you guys need to understand that these larger churches do not allow themselves to be manipulated by the politics of our church. They use their leverage to get the pastor that they have prayed about and desire. The church that you are mentioning IS voting on the minister that their leadership and that they desire to be their pastor! End of story!

Thank you. So true. Wish people would get the facts before they start blabbing and pointing fingers. The original poster has a history of such behavior. Actually kind of sad if it wasn't so disgusting.

I started my post with "this may or may not be true" I did that because no one really knows until the whole deal is done.

Also, you said I have "bits of truth and gallon loads of information" tell me what state and church Im talking about. Then tell me what bits of truth I have and where my misinformation is. I would love to read what you have to say.

Finally, You say I should get the facts and that I have a history of such behavior? please outline that history. I'll put my history and bits of truth up against your history and veiled references any day.

Post I apologize aprilmay2.0
I have read the most recent reply and I was contacted by a person who would know this potential situation and I see through a different lens.

Maybe appointed leadership in this hypothetical situation is not AB's scratching backs, but AB's covering messy situations. Which is really the majority of their job.

Also, I think JuneJuly2.0 is the most flattering thing that has happened to me on this board. I readily admit that I am an internet troll but I don't know what you call someone who trolls a troll so this is amazing.

Thank you Junejuly2.0. your name is awesome.

I guess if someone wanted to march AprilMay off the gangplank, they could log in as MarchAprilMay.
Just a thought.Wink
Or if something thinks of himself as being supremely dignified and inspiring reverence, he could be AugustSeptember. (Or Dr.AugustSeptember.)

I guess you have to call Junejuly3.0 a troll's troll.

Is it possible that JuneJuly3.0 and AprilMay2.0 is the same person? I do not have a clue. Just wondering.
