Post Uber report Resident Skeptic
I tried an earlier route today instead of an evening one. I got to the Gainseville area about 11:45 and worked six hours.

$39.08

I am told that Thursday through Sunday is much better during the Summer with most of the UF kids gone. Until they return in the Fall it's slim pickins. So I will try Thurs-Sun. next. It is possible also that Mon-Wed might be a little better from 5 to 10AM because that is when most of the good flights arrive to GRA. I think I will go into Ocala (just 8 miles away) on Mon-Wed and see if I can equal what I did in Gainseville on those days. Overall, I still say Uber is a better income opportunity in a large, metropolitan area.

Today was the first day I was ever creeped out by someone I picked up. Two very arrogant middle eastern men in their 20's. Very rude, bossy. One kept talking on his phone to someone in his native tongue and mentioned my name a couple of times. The scary part is that their destination was an adult sex shop. While such activities are against their religion, I remember that the night before the 9-11 attacks some Muslim men in Daytona were seen at a strip club and later were getting drunk at a bar. As the story goes, they made a remark to another customer that something "big" was going to happen the next day. This was actually on the news. Some say that when Muslims are about to carry out a suicide attack, that Allah permits them some "indulgence" before their death.

When you get paged on your smart phone, the name and distance of the customer comes up, along with their customer rating. If their rating is below 4 stars, I refuse the request and it gets passed to the next closest driver. When you accept a request, your name and pic pops up on the customer's phone and the apx time it will take for them to get to your location for the pick-up. Probably 40% of my customers are Muslims.

I can't help but see the irony in this, but all the same I pray for your safety. $40 for 6 hours is not good, hopefully you didn't have to drive a lot of miles.

Gainesville is 25 miles one way, sadly. A couple of times I've gotten calls out in the country while about halfway there of people needing a ride to UF or something. That helps a little.

The former principal at the High School I work recently retired and moved back to Georgia. He Ubers part-time and makes hundreds of dollars a weekend.
