Post "General Assembly Today" Magazine - State Advertisements Charlie Earl
Curious, is the various advertisements in the GAToday daily newspaper, paid for by various States, smack anyone as unnecessary self promotion?

Who thinks this is a good expense from strapped State budgets to promote AB, staff as a "Welcome" ads that fill this GA Today newspaper/magazine handed out daily at GA?

I assume it's not free, bigger states get full page, etc...anyone know cost of these self promoting ads? Ads underwrite this I'm sure.

Looking through these after GA and couldn't help notice the Charisma Magazine-like self promotion vanity ads from our leaders...

Charlie, I hope ya don't mind if I just call ya "Charlie" an all. Ever time I say the name "Earl" I git the feelin I'm in Atlanta at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. At aint a good feelin, so I'll just call ya "Charlie" ifn ya don't mind.

I looked through ever page of all the GA Today publications just last week. Most states did have a ad, but its been at way fer a number of GA's now. I don't know if it was self-promotion or just promotin the state.

Promoting state? Maybe. Why does almost every ad have the AB and staff w large photos? Just smacks with vanity self promotion. Just impression.

If promoting state -- promote new church plant (sad so few in many states) or something highlighting an outreach in that state etc.

Why does it revolve around the AB/staff? Just observation over years these.

But, just curious of what theses vanity ads COST out of state budget?

Where is THAT information??

BTW -- Charlie is fine:) LOL per "Earl"

It may just be none of your business??

I've seen a guy named Charles on Facebook asking sincere, humble evangelists in our movement what they got paid for a revival when all they are posting is spiritual results of what GOD did. How carnal. 🙄🙄

I honestly don't know what the cost is, Charlie. But if there is a cost, I think we can be confident it was paid for from the state budget. Its kinda like some camp meetins on the state level, the local churches will often purchase similar ads in a state level publication. When they do, the local church budget pays fer it.

Not me on FB...if that is what your thinking.

But, since the church I pastor sends our $$$$$ to state office faithfully, it kinda is my business to find out and raise the question of whether it is a good expense.

Our state has cut everything not tied down, struggles to pay YD part time, always talking "things are tight" etc.

Yea, I want to know and will find out.

Post it is strange, but ... Bowtat
from what I understand the expense is not all that high. The printing of the publication basically is a brake even situation thanks to the revenue that the adds bring in.

I do admit that the only why I know who some of the regions ABs are is from the adds.

Okay, now I am curious, what did it cost for a small ad? What of course was a small ad? Confused

Is this one of those 'sunshine' things or transparency dudes?
It surely ain't a secret,is it? Confused

I agree! Now I'm wondering what size picture Judah4Him had in the magazine, lol!

Since I've never been to a GA, I'm a bit in the dark about this whole magazine. When Bowtat says the publication breaks even by the revenue brought in by ads, is he/she talking about ads purchased by businesses or by the ads purchased by the State Offices in the COG?
Is it time to move to electronic media rather than print?
I can never understand why someone would say "none of your business" when it comes to expenditures in the Church of God. Who wants to hid the cost of something and why?
