I got an email news letter ... |
Mat |
I got an email newsletter last week that said something like 400 pastors and church leaders were going to resign that Sunday due to being on the list. Must not have been any in my area, have not heard of any. All the guys in my weekly pastors' prayer group still got their church and did not mention any problems at their churches. Now I know some of those guys know how to use a computer, what gives?
Could the truth be a little less than the our "Christian" media is making it out to be? Perhaps most pastors are men of God (or women of God if so allowed) and are not living a lie.

Mat according to the US Census of 2010 there were slightly over 350,000 churches or houses of worship in the USA. I've also heard about the 400 pastors/churches. Living in S. California I don't personally know of any either. I haven't heard about any pastors in my community or the Los Angeles area.
If the 350,000 number is pretty accurate then 400 is a tiny percentage, but that doesn't negate the fact that many people will be hurt by the revelation. Assuming that any of it is true. _________________ http://geraldabreu.info

You would think that people would be smart enough to set up a different e-mail account with a fake name if they were going to get on it. Guess they never thought the site would see the light of day.
I read where one pastor in Louisiana (Baptist) I think committed suicide when his name surfaced. |

I've wondered the same thing. I wasn't so much afraid my name would get connected, just that I might stumble onto the wrong place or pick up a virus (computer virus!).
So right now, ignorance is bliss. |

Quote: | 1. Get right with God.
I don’t say this tritely.
Fall on your face, and cry out to Him in repentance and faith. The exact same grace that saves also forgives. The relationship is intact, but the fellowship is broken. Confess it to God, forsake it, and He will forgive.
No matter what others think about you following this failure, you can have confidence the blood of Jesus saves you. |
Hey Brad. Can you believe the nerve of this writer telling someone they need to repent to get right with God, especially a believer?!

The author of the articles writes: If you’ve committed adultery, you are now disqualified for ministry.
What about all these guys/gals what commits adultery an calls it a new season? |

Couldn't they also refer to their adultery as "spreading seed around" or "sewing seed"? _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Why would pastors resign if they can just go through a short 'restoration process'?
The suprising thing to me about this story is that everyone seems to know what Ashley Madison is. I read the stories about it, and I thought, "What's Ashley Madison" and had to look it up. I wondered why authors on Christian sites would know the name of a website devoted to finding partners in adultery. I hadn't been watching the news, though. I also read somewhere that the website had a radio campaign to advertising finding partners for adultery.
We live in a sick country where that is even legal or tolerated. If there were a publically-advertised organization like that in the 1950's wouldn't it have been shut down? It's a good thing, in a way, that we have hackers who would do their best to shut such a service down. Why don't they go after Planned Parenthood next?
I'm also wondering what the male to female ratio was for subscribers. Were there lots of guys and a few women, or vice versa, or about even? I wonder if prostitutes used the site to market their services.
States should pass prostitution laws that make it illegal to receive payment to broker sex between people, in addition to being illegal to just pay for sex. There should be laws against making, distributing, or selling films that make money off of people being paid for sex. The porn industry is prostitution, if it involves having sex at least, but I guess prostitution is legal in California if someone has a camera in the room. I'm assuming they pay the porno actors. _________________ Link |

Most pastors wouldn't resign unless their 'organizational leaders' required it.
The surprising thing to me about this story is that everyone seems to know what Ashley Madison is. ......
I think most of us heard the same as you, when it hit the news.
...............................
In this case, I think Hackers did the public a favor...
