Post Division of Spirit Care Ministries Jamie Noel
Does anyone know what this is? What is the function of this department within the COG?

They are set up to help COG ministerial families in need of free counseling, for one thing. I'm not sure what else they do.

Just curious! I've done fount that a large percentage of posts from non-COG preachers, or them that used to be an aint now, is motivated by negative intentions. Acts-pert Poster

To answer your question....Yes. I pastor a campus of The Potters House, which is led by Tim Oldfield. I am also credentialed in the COG with a very rich history in the denomination.

I am glad though, that you you seem to have so much time in order to run statistics of which posters are COG and which are not....AND....to determine their intentions of their posts. You must have quite a discerning spirit.

Did anyone answer Jamie's question?

It is supposed to be a one stop call for COG ministers to get assistance/direction for any needs they might have - spiritual or otherwise.

The concept is good. But I have never heard of anyone using the services.

But perhaps by its nature - I shouldn't have heard anything unless I was using it.

Does anyone have a phone number - in case Jamie or someone he knows is in need of its services?

Post Spirit Care Lloyd Looney
My understanding of Spirit Care is the following. There is the Division of Care in the Church of God which includes several ministries including the Chaplains Commission, Office of Ministerial Care, Spirit Care, Operation Compassion, Widows Center, etc. The office of Ministerial Care (OMC) provides counseling services for ministers and ministerial families and is also the restoration source for fallen ministers. If counseling is needed then those services may be provided by OMC or referred out to other sources like myself. Spirit Care is the ministry that reaches out to retired ministers and their spouses. All of what they do is not known to me. They are housed in the same building as OMC.

Thanks Bro. Looney. I was just telling my wife a few days ago, you aren't on Acts often but when you are, you say something. You just proved me right! Cool Smile

You came up because we were discussing another good man, you might know him!!! Smile Ken Looney!

Thanks Cojak. I appreciate that. My uncle Ken has always been a good man and good pastor. He raised 4 crazy (Looney) boys. I'm the only sane one of the whole group of brothers and cousins.

I received counseling through the Office of Ministerial Care years ago when my husband was a credentialed minister. It was a blessing.

It looks like they are working on the website part. I'm sure if you called the International Offices for the COG, they could connect you.

Funny that, I attended church with Bro Ken and his wife for a few years and did not know he and the boys sang until the wife introduced me to their singing from a church service on the net, after Bro Ken moved. Yep they do SING.

To the OP, I could have given a 2-3rd hand account of the counseling. A minister friend had counseling and related the blessing the Dept was to he and his wife. I am glad to get more info, if only for reference.
Cool
