Post Do you break bastard curses JLarry
Heard a Bible teacher today talking about breaking "bastard curses".

They quoted this verse Deu. 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord. As their proof.

If I could have left without making a seen I would have walked out. And if the teacher had not been related to me wife, I would have walked out.

As a New Covenant believer I have heard enough about "Generational Curses".

WOW, that is anew one on me my friend. Never thought of it and never considered it.

I was very fortunate growing up, I never had a friend or knew anyone who did not have a father and a mother.

BUT NOW? Even in my own family Crying or Very sad

That subject is so deep, I am glad it is buried in the OT. Sad

OK, a bastard (illegitimate child) grows up, gits married, has young'uns, then 9 generations beyond this bastard, none of which we are told are bastards themselves, carry some kinda generational curse what has gotta be broken?

Hilariously Ludicrous.............

Now that we have this revelation we can start a new church.

What shall we name it.

Is that a verse about bastards or a verse about children from forbidden marriages?

I went to a church once where things seemed to start off pretty good. The pastor was a good teacher. But then, he started preaching about a lot of psychology. He said he was going to counseling himself.

He had this sermon about making vows to your self like, "I'll never be like my dad" or whatever, and how this can effect your life later on. And he had everyone repeat a prayer where they were supposed to say they broke every vow. As I recalll, I did not repeat that.

I thought, man, that's messed up. Praying a prayer saying you break your vows. He meant it in some other way, and those thoughts like, "I never want to be a preacher when I grow up" aren't really 'vows' anyway. But that sure did sound messed up.

I believe I told him that we are supposed to keep our vows if they are real vows.

And I don't see how it had much of anything to do with what the Bible teaches. It's like he took some really specific issue in his own life that he'd uncovered during a counseling session and tried to apply it to every else.

Heb 12:5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

I am the son of a bastard (illegitimate) male child.

Yep my dad grew up dirt poor also.

During a time when the stigma of such a condition was very real.

It affected him his whole life.

He never got "over it".

I remember when my Grandmother told my sister who our biological grandfather was.

I forgot his name.

If God put a 'curse' on bastards... and I don't call it that... who is some Charismatic pr Pentecostal to break one of God's curses. Why would one think he could undo something God spoke by yelling at it or decreeing something?

He that is under a law is under a curse.

Why be under the law? Be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
