| As far as telling other people to tithe or not, I guess I don't. The exception would be that while I had control over my son, i.e., when he was a child, I made him put 10% in the offering, and split the other part equally between savings and spending. When he became an adult, I told him I didn't believe tithing was a mandate, but that I thought he ought to give money to the church. I don't harp on it, but I did tell him that where his treasure was, his heart would be. |

No, I would not have worded it that way, but I'm in a totally different place than the leader of the COG.
I don't believe tithing is a New Testament mandate, but I have always given 10% of my income to the church. I currently don't have a personal income.
I've been influenced most by Christians who were frugal and generous. The ones who influenced me most just did what they thought was the right thing regardless of circumstances. |
