Does Lee University support same sex marriage? |
aprilmay2.0 |
It's a legitimate question based on 2 recent events.
1. The liberal theologians they invite to speak
2. A special guest who took the stage and sang at Dr Conn's 30anniversary is a practicing homosexual who boasts of his recent marriage.
Does the university have an official stance on this? |

Please name the theologians.
Please name the special guest.
Thank you. _________________ Charles A. Hutchins

I don't know of a document that lists all of the sins that Lee "supports" by those who may be a guest. You may email the President and ask him and report back: pconn@leeuniversity.edu if you really are serious. |

Who was the special guest? I missed it.
But if it's a gay guy that gets married - it gets a sticky. I do know that much. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

I believe Neal Coomer is the singer that you all are speaking of. |

Didn't know he had went gay.
Guess Jay made a good decision dumping him and going to Rascal Flatts.
Very sad he would be a feature soloist at Lee. That was definitely an "in your face" moment by someone doing the planning at Lee.
As one who always defends Lee - I can't do that here. It was a mistake. Hopefully whoever pushed for it will be fired. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

I googled him and went to his FBook page and it says he is married to a Daniel K. It is sin I don't care who is involved in it. Does anyone know for sure that he sang at the Conn celebration? Surely he knows better. |

Spoke to someone who was there; said the Dept of Music put on a program featuring current students, professors, and former students. Program included choirs, ensembles, instrumentals, a quartet, a duet, and one soloist who was Jordan Smith. Said the guy in question could have been in the duet, but he wasnt sure. |

Thank you. Then Conn needs to apologize on here for this. Maybe he didn't know about it, but, SOMEBODY surely did.

"Conn needs to apologize on here" may be the funniest statement I've ever read on Acts. You do realize that this was a program to honor him and was attended by the Board and most, if not all, of the EC members. But he needs apologize on here?? Too funny. |

Eddie,
Don't pounce on the misstatement of one poster above. I don't expect Paul Conn to come on Acts.
However, if Neal Coomer was a soloist at ANY Lee university function - it was a mistake.
If he was just singing in a Lee Mass Choir - I would have no problem.
Not as a soloist.
Perhaps it was all a mistake - and it didn't really happen.
Whoever was at the function - can you confirm or deny whether this actually took place?
If it did - someone should lose their job. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

The reason I said he should come on here and apologize is this is the place it was brought to our attention. I haven't seen it on any other media outlet - it might have been but I haven't seen it. He is responsible for everything that goes on at Lee - same with any CO, President, Manager or whatever. Someone near the top had to organize and get approval. I don't think it is funny - it is a serious matter. A pastor would be in serious situation if it happened in his church. The members would be at his front door right away and should be for that matter. I am sure SOMEONE in the know from Lee or headquarters see this forum.

That was a mis-statement? It's interesting that nobody has asked me about it and I was there. I certainly am not aware of personal sins of any of the performers. I don't care either. |

My friend doesn't know the guy everyone is speaking of, but he did confirm that the only soloist at the event was Jordan Smith. |

Good to know.
Maybe much to do over nothing. My gut feeling is Lee is smarter than this. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

Okay Eddie... |

I'll ask you since you were there. Did he sing in a choir, solo, duet or quartet? Did he have any solo lines at all or was he featured in any way? Did anything set him out in front (not just being a voice blended into a group)? Was his name printed or spoken? Was this person spotlighted in any way? You said you were there and nobody asked you about his involvement - so I'll ask |
