Traveler's problems locating a Church of God

Yeah, I know our situation is sorta unique. My wife is not a phone person (except for family) and I haven't yet mastered the Cochlear implants for phone conversations, so phone #'s do not help much. But PO boxes help less for locating a church.

WE are in a new town. Flagler BEach, Florida. One of the first things I do is go to the Nat'l site to locate a COG. None listed at Flagler, but one in Bunnell. The pastor is Bro. Brooks, the church address is a PO BOX.

I often wonder with the present simplicity of programmng and site size not much of a problem anymore, why our HQ doesn't have a spot for mailing address and physical location of our churches. A web search found nothing I could ID as 'our family of churches'.

The RV park has religious services, but we prefer to be with 'our' family when possible. We have met some wonderful pastors and folk while on the road. It is still nice to talk to a pastor who knows many of the same folk we do, etc.

If you know of a church close to Flager Beach, give us a shout. Thanks. Smile

PS: I did use the Church e-mail address for directions, but no answer so far. Sad

And family there as well. There are two AG churches in Palm Coast. I recommend Evangel
Assembly. It is smaller and meets early Sunday am in another church's building but they are good people who love the Lorc and I think it might fit you well. Here is their facebook page not sure if they have a website. Try it, you'll like it. Pastor Terry and his wife Diane great people.

Thanks everyone. I remember when I pastored 20-30 people I got a thrill when strangers walked thru the doors, so we still try to attend and give most of the time. There are times we feel like getting lost in a large church to worship. This week we did find a small COG to attend in the edge of DAytona. Odd as we drove in a Kentucky tagged car pulled in. It was a pastor, Bro Ballinger from Lexington, KY on vacation. Nice folk. WE had a very good short conversation. Nice folk.

I emailed the church with a PO box but never received an answer. One e-mail came back as no longer valid.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Cool

Church Directory

I agree. The directory website is almost useless. The information is not up-to-date (bad or NO websites), there is no place for FaceBook info, and you can only search by a town's name or zip code. Widening the search by proximity to a town or area is non-existent. Also, the window does not work well with most web browsers. Didn't used to be this way.

We tried to use the directory while I was working in the NE and again recently, as we are moving to another area and have been looking for churches to visit. Frustrating is an understatement. Trying to find a COG congregation via the directory will make you rethink entire sanctification. Wink

I apologize in advance to whoever is in charge of this at HQ for my blunt review. I'm sure that I've offended you. For that I'm sorry. However, how many are not visiting COGs because it is much easier to find an AG congregation?

So, Cojak, you are not alone, my friend.

I traveled with my husband and family for several years, as he did entertainment in fairs, and we also did family ministry crusades as the Lord opened doors. Much like Cojak, we would roll into town not knowing anyone and not having a lot of internet access (as this was in the late 80s/early 90's).

At first I insisted we all go to church, but this was made difficult by our only having an RV (already set up on the fairgrounds most of the time) for transportation. Later, I drove a separate vehicle making life much easier. But when I didn't have transportation or couldn't find my way around easily, I would simply find a phone book & make use of the Yellow Pages. If I couldn't find a COG, I'd look for an AG church. I would call churches and tell them we were in town and would love to visit their church if someone could pick us up. Rarely were we not able to find a church to attend or transportation if needed.

Cojak, I realize this wouldn't work in your situation, but it led me down memory lane. Smile

I wonder if you contacted the state office (if THEY have a website) and asked, perhaps they could help you find a church in your area. The ones I've looked at have a state office phone number. Surely they would know how to find a COG. Smile
