Socially Distanced Wedding |

I thought I would share with you (in case we are not FB friends) that my older son was married last week. He and his fiance had been engaged for almost two years and wanted to get married but with COVID, they weren't sure how to pull that off. They live in FL where the COVID rates are high, and they didn't want to do anything to expose either set of parents to COVID. So they decided to get married on a mountain near Denver CO with only a couple of friends there (one of whom officiated.) It was disappointing not to be able to attend but I felt it was my place to be supportive and encourage them in their decision. (They are adults, after all, and it's their choice!) They plan to have a reception/celebration once COVID passes or things get better, but there's not telling when that will be. I'm going to try to post a picture here. They've also posted a rough cut video of the service. If you'd like to see it, let me know, and I'll post the URL. The ceremony was around 20 minutes and very touching (OK, I might be a little biased.) My son says he doesn't believe in God anymore, but I am still praying and believing God will touch his heart and bring him back to the Lord.
Uploading the pic didn't work...but everyone has commented on how happy they look. We are very happy for Ben and his new bride, Jodi! _________________ "More of Him...less of me."

Congratulations to the lucky couple. Glad they could work thigs out. The weather is beautiful out there in most areas. we drove thru a few weeks ago. This Covid situation has certainly disrupted life as we have known it. I have considered the deaths ans sicknesses we have known, with the 'no visiting' etc, but I had not even thought of weddings.
The best to the couple and may they hve many years of happiness.

Congratulations and prayers for your son's faith. Kid's have a way of breaking our hearts don't they? Sometimes it's tough to sit back and watch them make decisions that we know are destructive. |

Very true my friend, the children (Carolyn's in this case) can break your heart. BUT we are hoping LOVE will continue and spark new life, It can HAPPEN, I know that for a fact. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Amen! I'm so glad God didn't stop loving me when I turned my back on serving Him years ago! |

Congratulations! Did they stream the ceremony for relatives. I suppose that is one way to handle it, a Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, or Teams wedding.
Was the preacher behind plexiglass? Did they use a hand on a six-foot pole to put the rings on each others fingers and lips on a six-foot pole to kiss? Did they dance across the room from each other? I won't ask about the social distancing after the ceremony. |

Yes, watching adult kids make some decisions about their lives is heartbreaking, but as parents, all we can do is keep loving them and encouraging them. When my son sent me an e-mail about how his faith had changed, he ended it with "I don't know what else to say except I love you." He has always kept the door open to us, and though he is touchy about me telling him I'm praying for him, but nothing has changed the love.
He brought his new bride home to meet us before he popped the question and was concerned about our response. We are not at all unhappy about this decision.
His brother, on the other hand, slammed the relationship door shut in our faces over 10 years ago without discussion and still won't have any contact with us. That is heartbreaking, but I have to leave him in God's hands and trust He is working in ways I cannot see as I continue to pray. _________________ "More of Him...less of me."

No, they didn't stream the service. They were on top of a mountain without good internet access. I would have preferred that. But they had it videoed, though my son was NOT happy with the videographer. Ben edited it himself after they returned to FL.
The officiant (not preacher) was a friend of theirs, and he stood right in front of them. He and the other person there are friends, and they had already been around them, so no masks were needed. Ben & Jodi have lived together the last year or two, so no social distancing was required for the rings or kiss.
Here is the link if any of you are interested in seeing it.

That's why they chose it. There was a fire in the distance that you could see (and they could smell) but they were very pleased with the view. The wedding planner tried to talk them into a different site, but they wanted something different than they could see in FL. _________________ "More of Him...less of me."
