Post Metro Church of God - Observations MI6
The appointment of the next Pastor to Metro will be a Test of Wills - God's Will versus Man's Will AND The Executive Committee's Will vs The State Administrative Bishop's Will.

Much controversy was created by Out-Of-State men coming to Alabama to fill every large church that was open in 2016... and in the 8 previous years before that. Whether you agree or disagree with the In-State / Out-Of-State argument is not the point - the controversy remains in Alabama none the less.

The new Alabama AB is on the record stating that he did wanted to work with the men in the State on all future appointments and that the Alabama AB told the EC that statement. The men of Alabama are trusting that this will be the case.

It would truly be refreshing to see the undeniable Hand Of God in this pastoral appointment instead the political process of the denomination.

Question,
Would the undeniable hand of God be allowed to pick a pastor from out of state?

When people say that God should place a pastor, by what means? Perhaps, He will use those in authority to make that decision and it would be a dangerous thing to go against that. Bottom line, let the one in authority place the pastor and everyone else just shut up. Amen? Smile Friendly Face

I guess the question is how can you get politics out of a system that is so enmeshed in politics and is it possible to use the system we have without it being abused by politics.

I am sure the guys making the decisions do not think it is politics - so in their minds - there would be nothing to remove.

They heard from God - made the placement. Where is the politics?

Here is a revolutionary idea.

Let the church members decide who their next pastor will be.

Centralized government, ya gotta love it! Laughing

Are you saying that unless an in state person is appointed, it is not God's will? I think you may have a really difficult time convincing the congregations at Oak Park, Pathway, and Sumiton that. From what I understand, each of those churches are growing and doing very well.

Post Alabama Men HighFive
Why do people forget that Victor Massey (Sumiton) and David Smith (Oak Park) ARE Alabama men. Born and raised in Alabama.

THANK YOU!

I know a lot of Alabama pastors. The ones whom I have talked to understand what you just said. They are more upset about the one or two people who get on here and embarrass and misrepresent them by acting like this is an issue. If you notice, no one ever gets on the bitter train with them. Alabama got several of the best leaders in the movement last year, two of which are products of Alabama!

Post Here is an idea chestnut ridge
Contact someone from leadership in Metro.

Ask them what the church body is looking for in a senior pastor
