Who is the most prominent woman in the COG? |
Eddie Robbins |
In their own right, not a spouse. Hypothetically speaking, what woman could be on the Executive Committee, if allowed? |

I knew only one, and her hey day was in the 1950s. Sister Wineberger, NC pastor and evangelist.
Sister Brannen is in her 90's now, she was a woman on the ball.
Do we have any Female 'camp meeting' Speakers now? I am so out of the loop I do not know.
Hopefully someone will bring some to mind. Good question though. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Most likely this would have to be a woman from the dominant S/E since we don't have any great, well known ladies in the west.
But overall take a look at our policy of male dominance & you'll be hard pressed to find a woman who has strong leadership qualities that men could admire, much less have name recognition.
As to sitting on the EC ...haha, not gonna happen for a very long time as long as the good ole boys of the south maintain their low opinions of women in leadership.
Every time the discussion arises of women possibly being in a place of leadership someone will compare our priceless, beautiful women, who love Jesus with all their hearts, to some left-wing gay nut case who opposes Christianity. It's scandalous when ministers draw an equal comparison, in terms of future leadership changes, of Christ loving women to those in the gay community. _________________ "Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!"

I know who she is, she was our night speaker a few years ago here in Calif. for our camp meeting.
But even with her gravitas & awesome personality she would never make it to the EC.
I think she's a fine leader, a little loose with the verbal facts sometimes but I've never been embarrassed by her candor. _________________ "Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!"

Which ever one gets invited to the campmeeting circuit the months before a G.A. - just like how the men get voted in. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

Annette Watson...once upon a year |
Aaron Scott |
She was, hands down, the best female preacher in the Church of God, as well as a tremendously anointed vocalist. Alas, she is now in or nearing her 80s (as is her enormously gifted husband, Randy). She would likely have made the cut. But with her AND Randy, that would likely have been the most anointed and talented duo ever. |

That I have heard over and over since my Florida life.
Even in the SE, I still do not know of an ACTIVE high profile lady in NC. We had Sis. Collins but she passed away very young. in the last few years. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Diane Collins would have definitely been one to consider. She could "flat-out" preach but she had a servant's heart. Miss that lady! _________________ "More of Him...less of me."

I think most women in ministry today are in ministry with their husbands. Many of them co-pastor with their husbands.
One female minister that I respect a lot is Pam Brewer. Her husband was our AB in ENC a few years back, and they are over the Discipleship program in Cleveland now. She was healed of cancer and has a powerful testimony. She walks in a strong anointing and has a heart for people. _________________ "More of Him...less of me."

Margaret Gaines may not have been the most famous woman but in my my experiences she was the most Godly, anointed COG man or woman I ever talked to or heard speak publicly. She was a very humble woman who did her best to run from fame and publicity. I remember hanging on every word she spoke and some of them would cut like a knife.
She would have run from the title "prophetess" but her words would challenge one to grow rather than speak great things over people who were not sold out for Christ. Her light shined so bright that after being around and hearing her I would want to examine every aspect of my walk with Christ and press closer to Him. I was not alone because when I mentioned this to one high ranking well known COG leader (I am not normally in those circles) he humbly stated, "Whenever I am around her I leave wondering if I am really saved." He meant this in a complimentary way. |

I have resisted posting here as none of you care about what the AG does |

But, a good friend of mine was made General Secretary of the AG last year and was elected to the Executive Presbytery of the A G last week at our biennial council in Orlando. Her name is Donna Barrett. Here is her CV. I've known her for 30 years and she is an awesome woman of God. Surely the CoG has equal women among its ranks. And btw she is not just tagging along on her husband's coattails. Lol what a bigoted unnecessary comment.
GENERAL SECRETARY
DONNA BARRETT
Donna Barrett was appointed general secretary of the Assemblies of God by the Executive Presbytery in April 2018. She is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Presbytery. As general secretary, Barrett oversees the credentialing of ministers, church chartering, the collection of official statistics, and the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center.
Prior to her appointment as general secretary, Barrett was a church planter, serving as founder and lead pastor of Rockside Church in Independence, Ohio. Following seven years as a paralegal, Barrett became a credentialed minister in 1986. She served ten years as youth pastor at Highway Tabernacle Assembly of God in Youngstown, Ohio, followed by seven years as associate pastor at Bethel Temple in Parma, Ohio.
Barrett is the first woman to serve on the Executive Leadership Team. While pastoring, she served as an elected general presbyter and Ohio Ministry Network executive presbyter for four years each.
