Yep, was just flippin the channels an seen ole Steve Munsy on TCT, hocking a $50 Jubilee Passover Offering. He said the reason God gave Hezekiah 15 years more to live is cause Hezekiah gave a offering.

Munsy said when I pledge something is gonna come through the tv screen.

I'd never heard of him. I found an old friend of mine online from middle school, from Baton Rouge. I'd seen him at a Bible quiz match the year after I left Baton Rouge and finally found him a few years ago online.

He'd worked for Muncy as a youth pastor in the Chicago area after graduating from what had been JSBC, and didn't care too much for Muncy. He got disilussioned and became an agnostic, played the male lead in the indie movie Fight Night/Rigged, and had gone into management at a fine dining place. So I looked up Muncy online and saw some clips of him.

egregious sin, why do you make light of it through sarcasm and humor? When you do that, you are making light of it.

You should be saddened by such. I am. I am grieved more and more what I see on christian TV. I would never be sarcastic at something that grieves me or grieves God.

The Olde Tyme Preacher doesn't need me to defend him and I don't always agree with him. But in his defense, he has chosen the method of parody to address his concerns. I have every confidence that the man behind the parody would take a much different approach in dealing with theological error in another (more serious ) venue.

Having said all of that, most of the junk these guys peddle on television is downright comical. The sad element of all this are the multitudes who are continually preyed upon by wolves. And I would be willing to bet money that the OTCP doesn't find any humor in that. And neither do I. But I never cease to be amazed at the levels some will stoop to in order to obtain an offering/donation/pledge etc.
