What we believe about God matters.
He's not a stingy, reluctant or uncaring Father. We don't have to gang up on Him or go on a spiritual hunger-strike to get Him to help. The birds don't sow or reap, the flowers don't toil or spin. He takes care of them and we're worth more than them. Do our prayer methods indicate hearts that don't really BELIEVE He wants to help, to give, to heal or to provide?
Are we double-minded?
One eye on the flesh where we see that our performance doesn't measure up and we feel disqualified, inadequate and unsure of whether God is for us or against us - and one eye on the cross where God demonstrated His commitment to us and showed us He'd freely give us all things (Rom. 8:32).
If our mind is on the flesh and the Spirit, we have 2 minds (Rom. 8:6-8 ).
James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
A double-minded man is doubting.
A single-minded man is believing.
Believe in the Father who "gives to all generously and without reproach" (without finding fault). He blesses those who curse Him. He gives expecting nothing in return.
What does our prayer-life say about what we believe about God? _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!
