Pastoring more than one congregation at a time… |
Quiet Wyatt |
We all probably are aware of satellite or multi-site churches, where the services are piped in via video link of some kind. I recently came across an article which related how in some parts of the country, pastors are serving several congregations by preaching as much as three or four times per Sunday, driving from one location to the next. My late grandmother did this back in the 70s and 80s with the United Methodist Church, serving rural congregations that on their own were not able to fully support a pastor. Combining their tithes and offerings, they could more closely approximate a living wage for their pastor though.
Do you think this scenario might work for some areas of the CoG? Why or why not? |

Why not? |

We've had good men serving as both pastors and state youth directors. In my opinion, it would necessitate the small local congregations having to step up and handle more every day maintenance of the church.
It might also cause leadership to consolidate 2 struggling congregations into one stronger one. _________________ Doctor of Bovinamodulation |

Roger that RR, that would work very well in NC where we have many places where there are 2-3 struggling churches within a 20 mile radius. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Where my kids worship in their town it has been working flawless for quite some time & I've been to some of their locations to witness it for myself.
I know of CoG pastors who minister at more than one location but they don't do it remotely due to a lack of funds to secure the equipment. Currently they travel to each location at staggered times & conduct live worship.
Seems to me it takes quite the dynamic ministry to develop the right funds in order to operate multiple locations. _________________ "Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!"
