Again, national polls mean nothing. What is the state by state breakdown? |

They mean something. They may not mean everything, but they mean something. Right now they mean that the 8 point lead Hillary had 2 days ago is not as safe as it seemed.
They also prove that the "Gary Johnson helps Clinton" claim is false. (Though I've left the Gary Johnson bandwagon because apparently the Libertarian party was not smart enough to field a good candidate either) |

What path does Trump have to 270? That is all that counts. A national poll of 2000 or 3000 people who may or may not vote really makes no difference. They could take a poll of 3000 and then another one with a different group and get a totally different result. |

Absolutely correct. The electoral college may have made more sense when the population was a little more evenly distributed (if that were the case, I don't know). But, today, the Dems have an automatic lockup of NY and CA before day 1 of the election. That alone gets them almost half way to the office.
Interesting, what would happen if they tied 270 each? Would the Republican House actually select Hillary? It wouldn't surprise me.
It is awful. I really don't want Trump for a multitude of reasons, but Hillary absolutely controlling the Supreme Court for the next 30 to 40 years is possibly even scarier. Right now, it doesn't even bother me much that Hillary is a crook. The Court is what I most worry about. Second is no restrictions on immigration and 3rd is destroying the economy in the short run (and long run with unsurmountable debt). But, the court, goodness, that is where it is at! The court will overturn free speech, freedom of worship. Christianity will be deemed hate speech. Folks this is serious.
The Republicans are currently incapable of governing. So what do we do. God is our only hope!

To answer Eddie's question, I'd say "in the regular way", he gets more votes. There are enough close states to tilt it his way IF (big IF), it keeps going that way.
As to you who think the Electoral College is a bad idea, try being consistent in your philosophy. Admit that states have no rights, that the Federal government trumps the states, that Gore should have been your president for 8 years, then I'll start to listen to you (but still won't agree).
The electoral college was designed to avoid letting the large cities (who our founders knew would all be liberal and collectivists like large cities have always been), making the decisions for the rest of the country. If you remove the electoral college, then NY, Chicago, LA, Philly, Boston, San Fran, Houston, Austin and Dallas will elect your leaders from now on. |

Almost every major city is run by Democrats. When you go back and look and the blue-red map that shows counties, the GOP rules the land but not the population centers. |

Eddie,
What would be great is if it gets really close - and the Utah guy wins Utah and NO ONE gets 270. Then its thrown to the House where Paul Ryan would lead the vote to see who gets President.
I tell you I still think Hillary would win in the House. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

That kind of betrayal indeed would be the end of the Republican Party.
But of course, the vote in the House is not a one man-one vote. The Congressional representation from each State has a vote amongst themselves. Whoever wins that vote counts as one vote for that candidate. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

It's my understanding that they can vote for anyone of the top 3 candidates with electoral votes. Hillary would win because the Republicans would split. |
