Listening to Snowden detail all the ways our movements, communications, and preferences are tracked, it becomes much easier for the average person to grasp the concepts of just how little privacy we have.
To carry this information further into the (near) future, it's easy to see how that once the world comes under a single government, people can easily be tracked and identified. The government knows the meds you take, your overall health, your net worth, every minute detail.
From there it is a short walk to compulsory compliance in every aspect of our lives.
