Why aren't christians voting for other christians for president? |
Ernie Long |
Could it be that christians don't want someone like them to be president?
Could it be that christians have more in common with the world than they do with Christ?
Look at what has happened on this board in recent memory, many have left or at least have stop posting due to the attacks of others or the repetition of the same type of posts. Doesn't seem very Christlike.
Go to Facebook and see what christians are posting. Most of it doesn't look or sound like what a christian should post. Doesn't seem very Christlike.
Could it be the christian in America doesn't resemble the Christian of the Bible as much as we like to think.
Maybe if christians were to follow Christ as much as they follow candidates, the world might take them more serious. |

Having a Christian as a President would be a real blessing. But, here is a thought as well;
When I need my lawn cut, I don't hire a Christian lawn guy. I hire someone who can cut my lawn right every time for the best price. If he is a Christian, I am very glad.
When I need an attorney, I don't hire a Christian attorney. I hire someone who is the biggest, baddest, most proficient, effective attorney I can afford. If she is a Christian I am glad.
Being a Christian isn't a detailed enough resume. There has to be more, in my opinion. That's just me.
My conclusion is that I've hired enough people who are Christians that can't cut be on time, finish the job, stay at the agreed upon price, or do what they said they would do.

This is why I won't vote for Trump. There are plenty of people claiming that Christians won't vote for Trump because they only want to support a Christian, and for many of them, that's just not true. I agree with what you said, and don't have any ethical or biblical problem voting for someone who is not a Christian. I do have an ethical problem voting for someone who does not have character or integrity. |

Thank you, Travis. Well put. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

agreed, well said. My brother-in-law is a Christian, no way I would vote for him for President either. This is about the temperament and prior record for me. I'd take Bernie Sanders' faith (or lack thereof) if he were a proven effective conservative and showed a history that supported what he claimed to believe. |

Trump also fails on the competency requirement, in my opinion, although the character failure is more substantial. Incompetent people with good character, humility, and sense can surround themselves with others who will help them. |

For some reason we don't think a person is a Christian unless he sees Christ and his laws as we do! SO EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY ARE CHRISTIAN,Shucks we know they ain't!.

Right on Travis.
And if the guy that runs the business tells you he is a Christian business to try and get your business - pick someone else. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

This one hurts! But it is true. I have been very disappointed in several men who used 'Christian' on their business cards, as sub-contractors. Much more could be said on that subject. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

I believe the way we follow Christ is our resume. Some follow close (disciples), some follow at a distance (rich young ruler), and others follow for convenience (the multitudes).

At times, sinners can be the Christians greatest judges, because they judge from a view of someone who knows they're not living like they should or could. But, if you claim to be a Christian you better not do the things that they're doing or they will call you out on it.
3 John 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.(kjv)
As some have already said, we're not voting for a pastor, but a president. I wish that Christians were as passionate about God as they are about who the next president will be. |
